Purchase and Use

Guides to Emby features, configuration, and usage.

The purchase and usage information on this page applies only to paid servers. If you use a nonprofit server, see Registration and Purchase.

Paid servers can be used immediately after purchase, with no account-retention activity required. Common types of paid servers include:

💰Cost-sharing servers: Users only share storage and network costs. Prices are low, full availability is not guaranteed, and there is little or no customer support.

📦Standard servers: Provide better routes, resources, and user experience, with some customer support.

💽Local-disk servers: Media is stored on local disks, so playback usually starts faster than on cloud-drive servers.

🌐Direct-connect servers: Can be accessed from mainland China without a proxy.

🎞️High-bitrate servers: Store high-bitrate media.

Some of these categories can be combined. For example, a direct-connect local-disk server can be played directly within mainland China and stores its media on local disks.
