Registration and Purchase

Guides to Emby features, configuration, and usage.

Emby servers can be broadly divided into nonprofit servers and paid servers. Registration on nonprofit servers is free, but as Emby servers become more popular, admission requirements may become stricter or the servers may become more private and less visible. As the name suggests, paid servers require payment before they can be used.

Nonprofit Servers#

🚪Open-Registration Nonprofit Emby Servers#

As the name suggests, you only need to join the Emby group and channel normally, find the account-registration bot, and register an account directly.

⏰Limited-Time Registration for Nonprofit Emby Servers#

This is also the most common approach among nonprofit Emby servers. They open registration for a limited time during holidays or at irregular times. You need to watch for an opening, obtain a registration code, or register quickly. Because these are nonprofit servers, they must limit the number of users to control costs and maintain viewing quality for everyone. What you need to do:

  1. Join the channel and group
  2. Read the Emby server's Wiki in advance and review all important notes
  3. Find the account-registration bot
  4. Wait for registration to open

🔒Closed Nonprofit Emby Servers#

There is generally no way to obtain an account for these Emby servers. If registration ever opens, it is a rare opportunity, so there is little need to follow them closely.

📌Account Retention Requirements#

Nonprofit servers generally require you to follow their Telegram channel and group, remain active within a specified period, and comply with the Community Guidelines.

Paid Servers#

Paid servers can be used immediately after purchase, with no account-retention activity required. Common types of paid servers include:

💰Cost-sharing servers: Users only share storage and network costs. Prices are low, full availability is not guaranteed, and there is little or no customer support.

📦Standard servers: Provide better routes, resources, and user experience, with some customer support.

✈️Proxy-provider servers: Usually offered as a benefit from a proxy provider or sold as part of a bundle.

💽Local-disk servers: Media is stored on local disks, so playback usually starts faster than on cloud-drive servers.

🌐Direct-connect servers: Can be accessed from mainland China without a proxy.

🎞️High-bitrate servers: Store high-bitrate media.

Some of these categories can be combined. For example, a direct-connect local-disk server can be played directly within mainland China and stores its media on local disks.

🔍How Can I Find a Nonprofit or Paid Emby Server?#

Use search engines such as Google or Bing, Telegram, forums and blogs, or build your own.
