Choosing a Client

Find Emby clients and download links by platform, with pricing, feature notes, and server restrictions.

Before choosing a client#

Emby has official clients, including modified versions, as well as many third-party clients developed around the Emby protocol. Their features and form factors vary. Choose the one that fits your viewing habits; there is no need to spend excessive time on the choice.

Everything on this page assumes that you have already purchased or registered an Emby viewing account and that the account is in good standing. ¥ and $ represent prices in the mainland China and United States regions respectively. Software prices change, and some apps have many subscription tiers. Check the official website or app store for current details.

Note: Some Emby servers restrict client types. When choosing a client, check whether your Emby server maintains a client blacklist or allowlist.

Client usage notes#

🍎iPhone/iPad/Apple TV Users (iOS/iPadOS)#

  • Filebar: ¥68 | $9.99. It can be used for free, and the free features are sufficient if you only watch Emby. Suitable for first-time Emby users.

    Devices: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV.

  • SenPlayer: ¥58 for iPhone+iPad, ¥58 for Apple TV, or ¥88 for multiple platforms | $7.99 for iPhone+iPad, $7.99 for Apple TV, or $12.99. A full-featured app supporting many protocols.

Devices: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac.

  • iemc: ¥18 | $2.99. iemc is a long-established Emby player whose features support only Emby and Jellyfin.

    Devices: iPhone, iPad, Mac.

  • yybx: ¥88 | $12.99. Made by the same developer as iemc, with a broader but otherwise conventional feature set.

Devices: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac.

  • HamHub: ¥6/month or ¥68 lifetime | $0.99/month or $9.99 lifetime. A conventional player that is free when used only on iOS, but requires payment for multi-device use.

Devices: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac.

  • Infuse: ¥13/month or ¥88/year | $1.99/month or $12.99/year. A long-established player. It is currently the only third-party Apple-platform player with native Dolby support and has the strongest decoding capabilities among current players.

Devices: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, Apple Vision. Do not enable Library Mode when using Infuse.

  • Conflux: ¥88 for Conflux Pro lifetime (promotion), ¥108 for Ultra lifetime (promotion), or ¥298 for Ultra lifetime | $12.99 Pro Lifetime (Promo), $15.99 Ultra Lifetime (Promo), or $44.99 Ultra Lifetime. A fairly standard but expensive player. It can play disc images and has a reasonably broad feature set, but its value is limited. Choose according to your needs.

Devices: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, Apple Vision.

  • Forward: ¥10/month, ¥98 lifetime (early-bird offer), or ¥148 lifetime (50% off) Forward - 新视界 | $1.99/month, $14.99 Lifetime (Early offer), or $19.99 Lifetime (50% OFF) Forward‪*. Supports aggregated search and has an attractive UI, but development is slow and there are many bugs. It is usable, but the value is limited; choose for yourself.

    Devices: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV.

  • Reflix: ¥9.90/month, ¥88/year, or ¥109 lifetime | $1.99/month, $12.99/year, or $14.99 lifetime. This app is unusual: although it has a built-in player, the developer describes it as an ordinary third-party client with features similar to Trakt. The built-in playback experience is not very good, and it currently needs to open a third-party player.

    Devices: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV.

  • VidHub: ¥12/month, ¥68/year, or ¥98 lifetime | $1.49/month, $9.99/year, or $15.99 lifetime. Developed by a team, it currently offers the best Dolby performance after Infuse. Team development also makes feature work and bug fixes very fast. For certain reasons, however, it is not broadly compatible with other servers in the TG-Emby community. Choose according to your needs.

Devices: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac.

  • BoxPlayer: ¥8, ¥48, or ¥128 | $0.99/month, $4.99/year, or lifetime. A conventional player with Trakt data synchronization. It is currently in the early stages of development.

    Devices: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV.

  • AGC: ¥128 | $0.99/month, $4.99/year, or $29.99 lifetime. This unusual player implements every feature through external widgets. Its Emby widget supports a custom User-Agent. The software price continues to rise and is relatively high.

    Devices: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV.

  • 网易爆米花: Developed by NetEase in China. It is free and full-featured, but collects a large amount of data. Most Emby servers, including Lily Emby, now block it. Read each server's rules before use.

Devices: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac.

  • Femor: Free. Developed by the HKA server owner. It is completely free and supports synchronizing account information through WebDAV. It is not listed in the iOS App Store and must be self-signed for installation.

    Devices: iPhone, Mac.

  • Lenna: In-app purchases of $1.99, $4.99, or $14.99. Supports Emby and Jellyfin.

    Devices: iPhone, iPad.

  • iPlayX: ¥38 | $4.99. Users currently report many bugs.

    Devices: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV.

🤖Android/Android TV Users#

The official client, Femor—which is evolving rapidly—VidHub, AfuseKt, and other apps provide a good interactive experience on Android TV. Other apps can also be used.

  • VidHub: Free. Available in major app stores except Huawei's. See the iOS entry for important notes.

  • Yamby: Free. Because the developer's Google account was banned, every feature except Themes and Skip Startup Page will remain free permanently.

  • AfuseKt: Most features are free. Paid options are ¥10/month, ¥39/year, ¥69 lifetime, or ¥99 lifetime Pro. Trakt synchronization, online subtitles, and some other features require payment.

  • Femor: Free. Developed by the HKA server owner.

  • Emby小秘版: Free. Removes the playback restrictions in the official Emby build and supports opening external players.

  • Emby kirlif版: Free. Removes the playback restrictions in the official Emby build. Ad-free download (password: emby).

  • Hills: Basic features are free. The Pro version supports adding unlimited servers and includes ExoPlayer support.

  • 网易爆米花: Free. Developed by NetEase in China. It is full-featured but collects a large amount of data. Most Emby servers, including Lily Emby, now block it. Read each server's rules before use.

  • iPlay: Free. Supports cloud drives and WebDAV cloud synchronization, with more features in development.

  • Findroid: Free. It has not been updated for a long time, but reviews are positive.

💻Mac Users#

See 🍎iPhone/iPad/Apple TV.

  • SenPlayer: The Mac version has essentially the same features as the iOS and iPadOS versions. It is a native Mac app and requires the SenPlayer Mac plan or bundle. It remains inexpensive, practical, and frequently updated.

  • Infuse: If you already have an Infuse subscription, you can use the native Infuse client directly on Mac. It remains the only mainstream player with native Dolby support.

  • VidHub: Like Infuse, an existing VidHub subscription lets you use the native VidHub client directly on Mac. Its Dolby performance currently ranks just behind Infuse. Team development makes feature work and bug fixes very fast. For certain reasons, however, it is not broadly compatible with other servers in the TG-Emby community. Choose according to your needs.

  • HamHub: A native Mac version of the HamHub client. It requires a HamHub subscription. It is not yet fully developed, so choose according to your needs, although it is inexpensive and reliable.

  • Femor: Developed by the HKA server owner. It is completely free and supports synchronizing account information through WebDAV. On Mac it is not available in the App Store or through Homebrew; download and install it manually from the HKA group.

Tip: On macOS, opening Femor after installation may report that the app is damaged. In that case, enter the following command in Terminal to remove the app's quarantine attribute:

sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine

After typing the command, add a space, drag the Femor app into Terminal, and press Return to address the app-damaged message.

  • Terminus Player: Free. Developed by Terminus. It has not been updated for years but still works normally.

  • If your Emby server allows playback handoff, you can use free external players with Emby on Mac: 1. IINA (the GitHub project can be installed through Homebrew) 2. Elmedia Video Player.

🪟Windows Users#

  • Hills: Free. Supports multiple servers, aggregated search, and a complete set of basic features.

  • Terminus Player: Free. Developed by Terminus. It has not been updated for years but still works normally.

  • Femor: Free. Developed by the HKA server owner and supports synchronizing account information through WebDAV.

  • Emby 小秘版: Free. Removes the playback restrictions in the official Emby build and supports opening external players.

  • tsukimi: An open-source Emby client designed for Linux. Updates to the Windows version are currently discontinued.

  • 小幻影视: ¥27 at the 40%-off early-bird price. It has an attractive interface, a useful backup connection line feature, and support for local files, WebDAV, SMB, and 115 Cloud Drive.
