Getting Started

Preparation and important notes

Prepare a Telegram Account#

First, you need a Telegram account. This is required to use most nonprofit and paid Emby servers.

Note: If your Telegram account was registered with a mainland Chinese phone number beginning with +86, you are strongly advised to open Settings → Privacy and Security → Phone Number and set Who can see my phone number? to Nobody to avoid unnecessary trouble.

Understand the Structure of a Nonprofit Emby Server#

An Emby service operated through Telegram usually consists of the following components:

📢 1. Announcement Channel: The Official Source of Important Information#

The announcement channel is the official way for nonprofit Emby server administrators to publish important information to users. Users should follow it closely to receive important service updates promptly.

📌 Main Content:#

  • 🔔 Service Status Notices
Server status directly affects the user experience. Administrators use the announcement channel to publish server maintenance plans, upgrade information, temporary outage notices, and recovery updates, helping users understand whether the service is operating normally and prepare for possible interruptions.

  • 📜 User Rules and Announcements
To maintain orderly service and protect every user's interests, nonprofit Emby servers generally establish user rules covering account-use requirements, prohibited conduct, and notices about occasional events. Read and follow them carefully to avoid losing access because of a violation.

  • 🆕 Registration-Opening Notices
For nonprofit Emby servers with registration requirements, administrators announce registration times and methods in the announcement channel so users can act promptly.

  • 🎬 New Media Notices
A rich media library is central to a nonprofit Emby server. Whenever new movies, TV series, or other media are uploaded or updated, administrators generally publish a new-media notice in the announcement channel. Some nonprofit Emby servers may use a separate new-media channel for more focused management.

📌 Explanation:#

Administrators use the announcement channel for one-way broadcasts, ensuring that important information reaches all users quickly and accurately. Users cannot reply directly in the channel, which keeps its information clear and focused. Checking the announcement channel regularly is therefore an important habit when using a nonprofit Emby server.

💬 2. Discussion Group: The Main Place for User Interaction#

The discussion group is the main platform where users of a nonprofit Emby server communicate and interact. Users can share viewing experiences, discuss plots, and ask for help when they encounter problems.

📌 Main Content:#

  • 🗣 User Discussion and Support
Users can freely discuss their thoughts and impressions about movies, TV series, music, and other media. If they encounter questions or technical issues while using the Emby server, they can also ask in the group. Experienced users or administrators will often help. This kind of mutual support between users is an important part of a nonprofit service.

  • 📥 Issue Reports and Suggestions
The discussion group also gives users a channel to report problems or suggest improvements to administrators. Constructive feedback helps administrators understand shortcomings and optimize the service around user needs, supporting reliable server operation together.

📌 Important Notes:#

  • Compared with the announcement channel, the discussion group focuses more on interaction and communication between users. Users can speak freely, join discussions, and form a community around the nonprofit Emby server.
  • To maintain a healthy community environment, all users must follow the group's rules and chat guidelines. These rules are generally provided in pinned group messages or through a specific link.

💡 Tip: Read the Community Guidelines section for the basic standards of communication and help maintain a positive, healthy community.

🤖 3. Management Bot: An Important Tool for Interacting with the Server#

A management bot is an important automation tool provided by nonprofit Emby servers on Telegram. It makes account management and access to server information more convenient.

📌 Main Features:#

  • 📝 Account Registration and Management
Users can generally register an Emby account through the management bot. The bot may provide simple commands or an interactive interface that guides users through the required registration information.
Some bots also support account-management features such as changing or resetting a password, changing the linked Telegram account, and self-service unblocking, helping users keep their accounts secure.

  • ✅ Check-In System
To encourage activity or provide benefits, some nonprofit Emby servers offer a check-in feature. Users can send a specific command to the management bot for a daily check-in, earning points or other rewards.

  • 🔍 Information Lookup
Through the management bot, users can look up server connection lines, their account status—such as the account expiration date or last viewing time—and other relevant information. This provides a convenient way to understand the state of an account.

  • 🆕 Other Features
Some Emby servers add lottery bots, AI assistant bots, and other features for variety. For example, the Lily Emby group includes a node-speed-test feature.

Management bots greatly improve the convenience and automation of nonprofit Emby servers. Simple interactions with the bot let users complete many common tasks without manual assistance, improving efficiency and reducing the administrator's workload. Users should learn the common commands for interacting with the management bot so that they can make better use of its features.

📌 Important Notes:#

  • Do not abuse bot commands or send requests too frequently. Some nonprofit servers may ban the corresponding account.
